What is Hypnotherapy?

All you need to know about hypnotherapy and how it can help you…

When people think of hypnotherapy, it’s not uncommon to have images of a psychologist swinging a pocket watch repeating “look into my eyes” in your mind but that’s far from the truth!

Hypnotherapy is an extremely effective tool that can transform your thoughts and therefore your life. It has the ability to tap into the power of your mind and unleash the mental challenges, symptoms and conditions that may be holding you back from thriving in your life.

Hypnotherapy is merely a very relaxed state where you are in a mindset of heightened awareness. From this place of clarity, therapy is able to occur much more effectively and much more rapidly, as we are able to get to the core of the issue much faster.

The benefits are endless, no matter what the issue, big or small, hypnotherapy can play a huge role in overcoming it!

Think of your biggest mental challenge right now. Image your life without it. How does it feel? How does it look?

Hypnosis may just be the answer to living your life free from mental challenges and restraints you deeply desire.

Sounding too good to be true? It’s not!

So, how does hypnosis work?

It works by inducing a hypnotic state through relaxation, mindfulness and concentration where the subconscious can be entered and explored. Once the hypnotic state is entered, the patient is in a far more suggestible state. The brain is operating in an alpha or theta brain wave (the same state that lies on the borderline between waking and sleeping).

Hypnosis allows the volume of your critical inner voice to be turned down – sometimes even off, which allows space to investigate what the mind is truly capable of without negative or limiting thoughts popping up.

Let’s dive a little deeper…

To truly understand how hypnosis works, it’s important to understand what is happening inside our brain in a session.

Our mind can be divided into two mental states: conscious and subconscious. The conscious mind deals with all of the rational thinking in our day to day lives (what will I have for dinner, which way will I drive to work etc).

The subconscious mind on the other hand, stores our life’s experiences, emotions, belief systems, habits and core values that were born from these experiences.

Unfortunately, more often than not, our experiences in life often create negative thought processes that we believe to be true.

For example, you may have had a traumatic experience as a child going for a swim at the beach. That experiences created a thought/belief in your brain that the ocean is a scary place. Your brain keeps that thought in your subconscious and from that moment you are afraid to go for a swim at the beach. When in reality, the beach isn’t a scary place, you just had an experience that your brain perceived as negative.

“Your perception of reality, is your reality”

With this example in mind, hypnosis can be used to speak directly to the subconscious without the conscious mind getting in the way with all of its usual judgements and critical thinking. This allows individuals work through challenging issues, create a different perspective, shift thought patterns and so on that may not respond to other conscious methods.

Now that we’ve explored how hypnosis works, let’s explore some of the benefits!

The benefits of hypnosis are endless. From decreasing anxiety, body image issues, addiction, emotional eating disorders, increasing self-worth, attracting healthy relationships to career motivation, hypnotherapy can help.

The truly incredible thing about hypnosis is that almost anyone can do it. Everything you need is inside of you already! It’s a safe and effective healing modality which will completely transform your life if you allow it. Better yet, most people feel and see results from just one session too!

So often we are searching for all of the answers to free ourselves from suffering/pain everywhere but from the source itself. Ourself.

There is nothing to lose, apart from old limiting beliefs!
